We went to Rapid for a few days at the end of June for the Dakota District Family Camp. The kids and I visited Story Book Island with my friend Michelle while Eric attended the annual church conference. I was pretty sure Ethan would love it, but I hadn't expected Emma to really enjoy it also!
Ethan really liked climbing all over the fire engine!
Unfortunately Ethan has not been on a real horse yet. But I guess this will have to do!
There is a train that the kids can ride around the park. Ethan and Emma loved it so much they went twice. I couldn't believe Emma would ride, but we figured out that she loves anything that moves!
She posed for a picture on this tug boat, but was having trouble figuring out why it wouldn't move!
She is the same size as Piglet!

We also went to a place called dinosaur park built in the 1930's to attract tourists going to Mt. Rushmore. Ethan went crazy happy at the site of DINOSAURS!
Then we went to Reptile Gardens where they have tons of live crocodiles, alligators, snakes, insects, and 130 year old turtles that you can pet. Ethan really liked all these things, Emma enjoyed the crocodile ride.
She rode this about 7 times while Ethan and Eric panned for gems.
They had a large dome with birds, lizards, and pretty flowers. Emma loved looking at all the bright colors.
You could go around the top and look down. They had HUGE live snakes all over and even the crocodile from a James Bond movie.
We also met up with some old friends, enjoyed eating out and shopping, and it was so nice to spend time as a family. I know Eric enjoyed the time off too.
